‘My Favourite Holiday’ by Jonathan
I went on my favourite holiday in the Easter holidays in 2009.
My family and I went to Paris, Rome, Stressa and Venice by train. It was a special holiday because it was my mum and dad’s 20th wedding anniversary.
First we went to Paris and travelled by train through the Channel Tunnel. We stayed in an apartment and visited lots of places. We went on a boat up the River Seine and could see lots of the buildings that we were going to visit. We went on the Metro a lot, which is an underground railway. I went up the Eiffel Tower which is very high and I could see all over Paris from the top.
After three days we took an overnight train to Rome and stayed in a hotel in the centre. It was very busy in Rome with lots of cars and motor bikes and we had to be very careful when we crossed the roads. We went to the Colosseum and saw where the gladiators fought. We went to a castle too. In Rome the spaghetti was lovely and in the ice-cream shop there were thirty four choices of flavour.
After four days we caught the train to Stressa by a lake in the mountains. Our room in the hotel looked over the lake and it was lovely to see all the lights on the water at night.
One day we went on a boat trip on the lake and visited four different islands. Another day we went up a mountain in a cable car and then on a chair lift up to the top. There was a lot of snow up there even though it was April and we saw people skiing. I built a snowman with my brother which was good fun.
We also went to an alpine garden and I spotted lots of different lizards on the rocks. There was a big yellow and black one that I took a picture of, which didn’t move at all.
Finally after three days we caught the train to Venice. My most exciting part of the holiday was when we came off the train in Venice. There was a lady with a card which had our surname on it. She took us to a private water taxi and the taxi brought us to our hotel.
In Venice there aren’t any cars because there are lots of canals. There are wooden stilts to keep the buildings above the water.
I had a ride in a gondola and had to get in the boat carefully because it wobbled a lot! I liked walking around Venice especially over the bridges at night.
The souvenirs that I bought were a mini Eiffel Tower for me and a bracelet for my nanna.
This summer we are going to Cornwall as we like it by the sea.

‘Through the Wardrobe,’ by Arshia
One day there was a boy called Arshia. He was playing on the computer and heard a noise. He got off the computer and headed for the noise. He saw a worm hole. The worm hole led to the world of Avatar.
It was amazing! It had a forest full of big trees with shining seas. Then he started walking through the beautiful forest. it started getting dark and he started feeling sleepy. The next day when he woke up he found he was in a bed. Hten he saw a person looking straight into his eyes. The man said, “Right, let’s turn you into an avatar for ever.” Arshia looked at the man’s coat. It said in capital letters: NAVI
Arshia started following him in his wheel chair and saw a machine. The person said, “Wait a moment. I need to do something.” The man was gone and Arshia slowly peeked in the man’s office and saw the man talking. They said, “We can use him to destroy the Avatar.” Arshia heard them do an evil laugh. The man started going to the machine. Arshia hurried back. The man said, “Get in the machine!”
When Arshia awoke he looked at his hands. They were blue. The next day he started going into the forest and it started getting dark. He got into trouble with the wild beasts. Then an arrow zoomed through the beast. It was a hunter. Arshia said, “Thank you.” The hunter looked just like the avatar. The hunters were not friends with avatars. They took him to the king of the hunters. They started teaching him moves and skills. Then one day the Navi attacked the hunters’ trees and houses and the big tree that they lived under. Arshia and the other hunters started attacking the Navi and at last the Navi were destroyed and the hunters lived happily ever after.
‘Through the Wardrobe,’ by James
Once there was a boy called Jimmy. He was walking when a door just opened. He looked at it and thought to himself, “That is strange.” He went and opened the door and behind it was a massive forest. he went through… the door disappeared. So he went into the deep, dark wood.
Then a vampire jumped out ferociously and said, “Who are you? How did you get here?” Jimmy told the vampire and the vampire said, “My name is Shake-eyes. Come!” he took him to the vampire’s castle, to the king of the vampires. The king said, “Why did you bring this?” Shake-eyes said, “He can help us in battle.” The king answered, “if he is to fight he must become a vampire, but it is his choice.” Jimmy said, “I will.” So the vampire made him a vampire by biting him.
Then the hungry wolves came to fight and the vampires were fighting and fighting back, but the wolves were slaughtering them. Then the vampires attacked from the back and slaughtered all of the wolves. Jimmy saw the king wolf and they fought and fought. The king wolf stuck his claws in jimmy’s heart and Jimmy stuck his in at the same time and they both died.
The vampires saw him kill the king wolf and they made a statue of him and that was the end of Jimmy

‘The Door’, based on Miroslav Holub’s poem, by Jonathan
Go and open the door
Maybe outside there’s a spooky pathway
To a witch’s castle
Battered and very, very destroyed.
Go and open the door
Creep up to the castle
Knock on the door
Look at the witch. She will make you freeze.
Go and open the door
Even if there’s only bright light,
Even if there’s only brilliant and fresh air,
Even if there’s a corridor to a room,
Go and open the door
At least there will be something.
‘The Door’, based on Miroslav Holub’s poem, by Jordan
Go and open the door
Maybe outside there are aliens
Who might take over the world
Go and open the door
Maybe outside there are werewolves,
Fiercesomely eating parts of humans.
Go and open the door
Even if there’s an alien as terrifying as a monster
It will blow up
Go and open the door
Even if there’s only the darkness
Creeping up on you,
Even if there are three trees,
Even if there’s a cupboard
Go and open the door
At least there will be something
‘The Door’, based on Miroslav Holub’s poem, by Arshia
Go and open the door
There maybe the red carpet
Where you’re famous
And everyone knows you.
Go and open the door
There will be a crystal ball
And a witch telling your future.
Go and open the door
You may have forty minutes to save the world
From aliens taking over.
Go and open the door
If there’s a knight as shiny as a star
He will take you to a magic castle.
Go and open the door
Even if there’s only a gingerbread man
Even if there’s a doormat,
Even if there’s rubbish stuff
Go and open the door
At least there will be something
