Camps

One of the most popular annual activities is the week towards the end of the summer term when years 7, 8 and 9 each go on a residential camp which provides them with opportunities to develop team building skills in addition to allowing them the chance to participate in an exciting range of physical activities.

In 2007, Year 7 went to Shropshire, Year 8 travelled to France and Year 9 went to Bude. They took part in a wide variety of activities including abseiling, climbing, aeroball, quad biking, problem solving, caring, the nightline, high ropes, disco and talent competition.

Here are some comments made by the pupils about their time at camp:

"I made some new friends whom I got to know better because we were all living together for a whole week."

"The activities were fun, especially the rock climbing. The disco was amazing and it was a great time to be with your best friends."

"Last year's camp gave us a chance to get to know each other better. We all learnt to work in teams."

"We did lots of activities which were really fun. I never got homesick because I was having such a good time. We did things like mountain biking, trampolining, rock climbing and abseiling, which were great."

"The high ropes were my best activity, especially when I did the 'leap of faith'. That was really good. I can’t wait until we go again."

"I enjoyed camp; it was perfect weather apart from one day when I was out in the woods building shelters (I got drenched!) I really enjoyed it and I’m sure you will too!"
