The House Champions for the Year 2006 to 2007 were Spartan.  Well Done!

Roman House Report 2006-2007

Having spent a couple of years in the doldrums, Roman House's sporting and academic performances improved greatly this year, with some tremendous victories.

We started with the Soccer competition, coming a creditable second.  The House Dance Competition provided an ideal forum for Amie to demonstrate her talents as a Choreographer, and we secured first place in the Group Dance section, making us second overall in the competition.

The Original Writing and Poetry Writing teams were particularly strong - Romans achieving first place in the Senior Writing Section, and some fine performances in the Music competition led to first place in the Junior Section.

Returning to sporting achievements, Roman House were winners of the Junior Rugby Competition, and also achieved first place in both the Year 7 Girls' and Senior Girls' sections of the House Cross Country.  We were obviously on a winning streak, as the House Hockey event saw Roman Junior Girls' take first place, thanks to a hat trick from Frankie!  The Swimming Gala demonstrated Romans' desire for victory with a number of winning individual performances - not least from "Amphibious Alex" - and it is worth noting that Roman House won 8 out of 12 Junior Relay events.

The end of the Summer term was a purple patch for Roman House with many victories.  These included first place in both House Tennis Competitions, first place in the Junior and Senior House Rounders, and of course Roman House were winners of the Sports Day Trophy.

Congratulations and thanks to everyone who participated during the year, gaining valuable points for Roman House.

Spartan House Report 2006-2007

The last academic year was very successful for Spartan House. Spartan started the year well, winning both the Junior Boys' and Junior Girls' five-a-side Football tournaments.  Our dance team triumphed in the House Dance Competition for the sixth year in succession with a brilliant performance - the result of lots of hard work by members of the team and help from Mrs. Charisse.

On the last day of the Autumn term came another big success and pleasant surprise for Spartan, as we won the quiz for the first time in eight years, for which we congratulate Peter's victorious team.

In the Spring term our success continued with wins in the Senior Basketball, Junior Girls' Netball, Junior Boys' Hockey, Junior Table Tennis, Junior Rugby and Senior Poetry Writing.  Our greatest success, however, came in the Cross Country where each member of Spartan House gave their all to gain second place and a valuable 8 points in the Championship.

In the summer term we were hoping for more success and our hopes were certainly fulfilled.  A number of outstanding performances by the Spartan team saw us win the Senior section of the Swimming Gala.  We also enjoyed wins in the Junior Basketball, Junior Original Writing, and both the Junior and Senior sections of the Verse Speaking Competition.

Entering the last few competitions, the gap between Spartan and Trojan was too close for comfort.  However, the Spartan Senior Cricket team cruised to victory, matching the achievement of the Junior Team.  Spartan were also winners of the House Credits Competition this year.  So, having won 20 out of the 42 house events, we were declared winners!

Trojan House Report 2006-2007

Trojan House have had a very successful year.  We are particularly proud of our achievements in the main sporting events.  We had some fine performances in the Swimming Gala, and in Cross Country it was a fighting finish with great successes in many year groups.

The seniors excelled themselves in winning the House Hockey, and the senior girls also performed exceptionally well in the House Netball, bringing home the trophy.

After many tries, we touched down with great success in the Senior House Rugby competition, and smashed our way to glory in the Senior Table Tennis Championship.

The Music Competition was keenly contested, with a number of Trojans performing brilliantly - Edwin's solo efforts bringing home the Guilmant Trophy for Senior Music.

The main event of the sporting calendar - Sports Day - was a very tense battle to the end, and after a number of outstanding performances in a diverse range of disciplines, we achieved a very creditable second place with only 7 points between ourselves and Roman House.

Other victories for Trojans included the Intermediate Maths Challenge and the Senior Duet in the House Dance Competition.

We have high hopes for Trojan House in the coming year - good luck Trojans!
