Townhill Park House and Gardens are both Grade II Listed buildings. The building dates from around 1790 and was extended and re-designed in 1911 for Louis Montagu, second Baron Swaythling. The beautiful gardens were planned by Gertrude Jekyll, one of England 's most influential garden designers, and display many of her classic architectural features.
Since the sale of the estate in 1948, Townhill Park has had several institutional owners and became the home of The Gregg School in 1994. In recent years the gardens had fallen into a state dereliction but have been restored by volunteers of The Friends of Townhill Park House Gardens.
The gardens are open to the public on four occasions during the year.
