LEARNING SUPPORT

Head of Department Mrs M Graham

The Learning Support Department offers help to pupils with specific learning difficulties.  Our strength lies in the expertise we have gained over the years working with dyslexic and dyspraxic pupils.

The department screens all pupils in September for reading age, spelling age and speed of processing.

We have qualified teachers who work with pupils both on a group and individual basis.  We have classroom assistants who support pupils in many areas of the curriculum to enable them to achieve their potential.

If pupils have difficulties, parents are contacted and strategies are implemented accordingly.

Pupils in the upper school with specific difficulties are assessed for possible examination dispensation.

Any pupil seeking admission with specific learning difficulties will be assessed before entry is confirmed to ensure that we have the necessary expertise to progress their learning.
