In Years 7, 8 and 9 the accent is on stimulating interest, encouraging a spirit of enquiry and developing the skills laid down by the National Curriculum and GCSE Boards.

Years 7, 8 and 9 follow the National Curriculum Key stage 3:

  • Medieval Realms: Britain 1066-1500
  • The Making of the United Kingdom, 1500-1750
  • Britain 1750-1900
  • Twentieth Century World
  • A European History study: the Roman Empire
  • A non-European civilisation: the native peoples of North America.

Years 10 and 11 follow the OCR ‘Modern World History’ syllabus:

  • International relations 1919-c1989 (for examination)
  • Depth Studies: Germany 1918-1945 (for examination)
         British society 1906-1918 (for examination)
         The First World War (for coursework).

The examination consists of 2 papers and constitutes 75% of the final assessment; coursework counts as 25%.
